FreeNet User Licence
(C) Tom Hughes 1995
0. Copyright
This file describes the terms and conditions under which the FreeNet
TCP/IP stack and its accompanying tools and drivers have been released
as Freeware products. Please note that the items covered by these
conditions have *not* been placed in the public domain. The copyright
of these items remains with the authors, and no part of this package
should be copied or passed on except as allowed below.
The FreeNet module itself, together with the SLIP driver, the finger
client and the documentation for all of these is copyright (C) Tom
Hughes 1995, and may only be passed on as described below. Portions of
the SLIP driver are taken from BSD source code, and are subject to the
licence which can be found in the file 'BSD' which accompanies this
FreeNet distribution.
The whois and traceroute clients are ports of BSD software, and as such
are subject to the BSD licence which can be found in the file 'BSD' which
accompanies this FreeNet distribution. The ports themselves is also
copyright (C) Tom Hughes 1995 and is subject to the distribution conditions
specified below.
The INetDB module which provides DNS support and the ping and nslookup
clients are ports of BSD software, and as such are subject to the BSD
licence which can be found in the file 'BSD' which accompanies this
FreeNet distribution. The ports themselves are also copyright (C) Adam
Goodfellow 1995 and are subject to the distribution conditions in the
relevant documentation.
1. Distribution
These distribution conditions apply to any distribution of the whole
FreeNet package, or of the parts of it which are described above as
being (C) Tom Hughes. Other parts may be distributed on their own as
allowed in the relevant documentation file.
This software may be distributed from/by any individual, Internet FTP
site, BBS system or PD library, provided that no charge is made for so
doing other than to cover reasonable distribution costs. Any distribution
of FreeNet which is intended to make a profit for the distibutor is
expressly prohibited.
I also require that any copies you do pass on should be exact copies
of the original distribution archive, and not copies of your own
customised setup. The latest version of the FreeNet distribution, in
it's original form will be available from:
ftp://ftp.demon.co.uk/pub/archimedes/developers/
Any magazine wishing to include FreeNet on a cover disc should contact
me first to obtain permission, which allows me to at least ensure that
they have the latest version. It is also helpful if PD libraries can
do the same, for much the same reasons.
2. Contacting the authors
Any queries about the status or distributions of FreeNet as a whole or
about the parts of it which are (C) Tom Hughes should be sent by email
to freenet@compton.demon.co.uk, or by snail mail to:
Tom Hughes
13 Priory Court
Hoddesdon
Hertfordshire
EN11 8DB
Queries about distribution of the parts which are (C) Adam Goodfellow
can be addressed to adam@comptech.demon.co.uk, or by snail mail to:
